Dorothy England
Dotty Hennlein England is a native of Maryland and a proud resident of Fort Worth, Texas. She and Gordon, 72nd and 73nd Secretary of the Navy and Deputy Secretary of Defense, met as students and were married at the University of Maryland campus chapel. They have three children and two grandchildren.
USS NEW YORK's Commissioning Committee is a group of volunteers from the private sector and from corporations based in the New York area. Its mission is to marshal New York City and State citizens and resources in support of the ship's commissioning, and of events surrounding her entry to the U.S. Navy Fleet.
The committee's goals are to:
- Arrange and support events during Commission Week that will enhance the morale of the USS NEW YORK crew and their families
- Raise funds to establish the USS NEW YORK Foundation for the benefit of the first and future crews of the ship
- Coordinate efforts to generate attention to USS NEW YORK and her mission
The committee and all New Yorkers in name and in spirit are determined to provide a memorable send off to the crew, as well as to share the spirit of New York with their families.
Woody Johnson is the owner of the National Football League's New York Jets. Outside of the Jets, Mr. Johnson is is active in a wide range of philanthropic efforts including being the founder and chairman of the Alliance for Lupus Research and chairman of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International and a trustee of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the nation's largest philanthropic organization devoted to health and health care.
Mr. Johnson is a director of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg's Fund to Advance New York City and a member of the board of the National September 11 Memorial and Museum at the World Trade Center. and he served as National Finance Chair for the 2008 Republican Convention.
Rear Admiral Robert A. Ravitz, USNR (Ret.), co-chairman and executive director, is a retired Rear Admiral in the U.S. Navy Reserve and the former Director of the Navy Reserve Public Public Affairs Program. Currently a marketing consultant, he built a distinguished career in the advertising industry. His last position was Executive Vice President of Grey Advertising.
